Maria Sappho (improviser, pianist, and researcher) works with verbatim collaborative theatrical storytelling with strong perspectives on nature, mythology, feminism, and community. She is a current PhD Candidate at Huddersfield University, on the European Research Council project IRiMaS (Interactive Research in Music as Sound). She is an international performer having played at Museum of New and Old art (Tasmania), Glasgow Jazz Festival, Huddersfield Contemporary Music festival, and is the winner of the New Piano Stars competition. She has worked with numerous ensembles including the BBC Scottish symphony orchestra, the Australian Art Orchestra, the Instant Composers Pool, and is a current member of the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra. In her spare time Maria is also the co-editor of the discursive political magazine the-MASS .
